Rice Milling at Dharapuram
The taluk has more than 500 rice mills processing paddy brought from across the south.
Outside the garment trade, Tirupur district holds one of India's coconut centres. Kangeyam, about 28 km from the city, is among the major coconut-oil producing regions of the country, with around 150 oil manufacturing units and about 500 copra drying units in the taluk, alongside rice milling and ghee.
